Iceland is open and travel is not affected by volcanic activity – except Grindavik town and the Blue Lagoon*!

*Blue Lagoon is in the limit of the danger zone and need to be evacuated in rush when the BIG alarm sounds! All other areas here in Iceland are still one of the safest on Earth!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

📍 Pickup & Location

Where do you pick up?

We offer pickup from most hotels in the Reykjavik area.

  • Downtown: Due to city traffic restrictions, we cannot pick up directly from hotels in the city center. You will need to walk to the nearest Tourist Bus Stop. Find your closest stop at www.busstop.is.

  • Outside Downtown: We pick up from major hotels in the greater Reykjavik area.

Can I drive to the basecamp myself?

Yes! If you have your own car, you can meet us directly at our basecamp. We are located just 20 minutes from downtown Reykjavik.

  • [Link to Google Maps]

When is pickup?

Pickup usually starts 30–60 minutes before the tour departure time. Please be ready at your designated stop early.

🚜 Driving & Requirements

Do I need a driving license?

Yes. All drivers must present a valid physical driving license.

  • Passengers: Do not need a license.

  • Note: Photos or digital copies of licenses may not be accepted.

How does „Solo“ vs. „Shared“ riding work?

  • Shared Ride: Two people share one ATV. This is the standard option.

  • Solo Ride: You ride the ATV alone. You must book a Solo Ride if:

    • You are traveling alone.

    • Your group has an odd number of people (e.g., 3, 5, 7).

Is there an age limit?

  • Drivers: Must hold a valid driving license (usually 17+).

  • Passengers: Children aged 6 and up are welcome as passengers. Children up to 17 years old pay the child rate.

❄️ Clothing & Gear

What should I wear?

We recommend dressing for the Icelandic weather!

  • Base Layers: Wear warm thermals and a wool or fleece sweater.

  • Outerwear: We provide warm, wind-and-waterproof overalls, but it is best to have warm layers underneath.

  • Footwear: Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended.

  • Accessories: A thin hat and a neck warmer (buff) are highly recommended to wear under the helmet.

Do you provide gear?

Yes. We provide:

  • Warm, waterproof overalls.

  • Helmets and gloves.

  • Balaclavas (face masks).

🌌 Northern Lights Tours (Specific Rules)

What happens if the Northern Lights don’t show up?

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, so sightings are never guaranteed.

  • If the forecast is LOW but weather is GOOD: We will contact you before the tour. You can choose to:

    1. Cancel/Reschedule for a full refund.

    2. Join the Tour: Enjoy a starry night ride! Note: If you choose to go, you cannot get a refund if the lights do not appear.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is unsafe (stormy), we will cancel the tour and offer you a reschedule or a full refund.

⚠️ Safety & Rules

Can we drive off-road?

We drive on rough gravel tracks and trails (which is an off-road experience!), but driving off the marked trail onto the moss or nature is strictly prohibited by Icelandic law.

What is NOT allowed?

For your safety, the following behaviors are forbidden:

  • Drifting, spinning, or sliding.

  • Speeding or failing to follow the guide’s instructions.

  • Note: Guides reserve the right to stop the ride for anyone behaving unsafely.
